What you get

Built for how breeding R&D actually runs

From cross planning through trial data to release, with the compliance trail generated as you work, not after the fact.

Dashboard through protocols: cross planning, trials, traits, inventory, and compliance in one system of record.

Core platform

Dashboard through protocols, sized for small programs first, ready when you add trials and inventory.

1

Dashboard

Single-pane overview of your organization's breeding activity and pipeline health.

  • Stat cards for breeding programs (total and active), cultivars, active crosses (planned vs in progress), observations, field trials, and germplasm lots
  • Open any metric card to go straight to Programs, Cultivars, Crosses, and related work.
  • Live feed for new crosses, registrations, and trial moves. Each line opens the underlying record.
2

Breeding Programs

Top-level container for breeding work by crop and objective.

  • Create programs with crop type (e.g. Hops, Tomato, Strawberry, Other), objectives, and start/end dates
  • Status workflow: Planning, Active, On Hold, Completed, Archived
  • Search and filter by name, crop, and status
  • Program-scoped cultivars, crosses, trials, and selections; use programs to group all breeding activity
3

Cultivar Registry

Full variety database with lineage, chemotype, and crop-specific attributes.

  • Register cultivars with name, code, crop type, status (Experimental, Testing, Pre-Release, Released, Discontinued)
  • Parent linkage (mother/father) for pedigree and lineage tracking
  • Crop-specific attributes (e.g. chemotype, sex type, usage type) where configured for the crop
  • Hops: usage type (Bittering, Aroma, Dual-purpose), alpha/beta acid ranges, essential oil composition, HSI
  • Search and filter by name, code, crop, status; view observation and germplasm lot counts per cultivar
4

Cross Management

Plan, execute, and track crosses with a clear pipeline from pollination to selection.

  • Pipeline stages: Planned → Prepared → Pollinated → Harvested → Germinated → Evaluated → Selected → Archived (or Failed)
  • Cross types: Controlled, Open pollination, Self, Backcross, Double cross
  • Automated cross code generation from parent names; optional custom codes
  • Link crosses to breeding program, purpose, date, seed count; track mother and father cultivars
  • Search, filter, and pagination for large cross lists
5

Field Trials

Structured evaluations with entries, replications, and trait-based observations.

  • Create trials with design type, replications, planting date, location, and breeding program
  • Trial status workflow: Design → Planted → In Progress → Harvested → Analyzed → Completed (or Cancelled)
  • Add trial entries (cultivars or selections); record observations against defined traits
  • Filter trials by status and program; view entry counts and key metadata
6

Traits

Configurable trait system with categories, data types, and crop-specific defaults.

  • Trait categories: Morphological, Phenological, Chemical, Agronomic, Disease resistance, Quality, Yield, Other
  • Data types: Numeric, Categorical, Boolean, Scale, Text, Date
  • Crop-specific default trait sets for Hops, Tomato, Strawberry, and other crops; add custom traits for any crop
  • Traits drive protocol stages and trial observations; use abbreviations and units for data entry and reports
7

Germplasm Inventory

Track seed lots, clones, tissue culture, and pollen with transactions and locations.

  • Lot types: Seed, Clone, Tissue culture, Pollen; quantity, unit, and storage conditions
  • Lot status: Available, Reserved, Depleted, Expired, Destroyed
  • Transactions: deposit, withdraw, destroy to keep quantities and status up to date
  • Link lots to cultivar and location; search and filter by type, status, and cultivar
  • Summary stats: total lots, available, reserved, depleted
8

Protocols

Versioned breeding and evaluation templates with stages, completion rules, and trait requirements.

  • Protocol templates by crop with configurable stages (e.g. Germination, Vegetative screen, Flower evaluation, Harvest, Lab analysis, Field trial, Selection decision, Compliance check)
  • Per-stage: duration, required/optional traits, actions, and completion mode
  • Completion rules: all required traits, minimum observations, percentage of traits, manual approval, or duration elapsed
  • Instantiate protocols for a program or trial; execute stages in order and advance when rules are met
  • Built-in templates for hops, tomato, strawberry, and more; custom protocols for any crop

Compliance and audit for cannabis, hemp, and hops

Change history on every mutation, jurisdiction-aware checks, and a clear line between Cultivar and state traceability systems.

Compliance & audit log

Who changed what, when, and which action, filterable for Owners and Admins when QA or a regulator needs answers.

  • Every create, update, and delete is logged with who, what, when, and action (CREATE, UPDATE, DELETE)
  • Categories: Breeding, Trials, Traits, Inventory, Protocols, Data & Observations, Organization
  • Filter by entity, action, user, and date; full trail for Admins and Owners in Audit log.
  • Traceability for cultivars, crosses, lots, and observations; export-ready for regulators and internal audits

Cultivar covers breeding and pre-commercial compliance. Use it alongside your state traceability system (e.g. Metrc) when you need post-harvest or seed-to-sale reporting.

Team & data isolation

Secure organization isolation and role-based access so breeding teams of any size work in one place.

  • Organization-scoped data; row-level isolation so your data is never visible to other tenants
  • Roles: Owner (billing, delete org), Admin (users, all operations), Breeder (programs, crosses, selections), Technician (observations, inventory), Analyst (read, export, reporting), Viewer (read-only)
  • Invite team members by email with assigned role; invitation expiry and accept flow
  • Menus and actions match each role; Admins handle invites and permissions from Team settings.

Pheno hunts

Evaluate large populations from a cross or seed lot, mark individuals as keepers or rejects, and promote keepers to cultivars and selections.

  • Create hunt trials by choosing a design such as Observation nursery or Unreplicated and optionally linking a source cross or germplasm lot
  • Add plants in bulk; entries start as Pending, then set to Keeper or Rejected as you evaluate. Use the Keeper board view to tap cards and cycle status from Pending to Keeper to Rejected at a glance.
  • Promote keepers to create a new Cultivar and Selection per keeper; link from trial entry to cultivar
  • Record observations per entry; use protocol stages when the hunt is linked to a protocol usage
